Taxagifine (1), an unusual taxane isolated fromTaxus baccataandTaxus cuspidata(Taxaceae), has been efficiently transformed through C-13 reduction and acylation into the novel paclitaxel (Taxol®) / docetaxel (Taxotere®) derivative 5.
