摘要:
An adiabatic theory of the energy exchange between magnetically confined charged particles and a traveling electrostatic wave with slowly varying phase speed and amplitude is presented. The results are applied to a basic assessment of the usefulness of traveling‐wave techniques for efficient energy recovery from energetic plasma streams. Severe constraints on the energy conversion efficiency attainable by this approach are indicated by the model.
