AbstractThe Brazilian government has long been determined to create an internationally competitive aeronautical industry. The Air Ministry set up a scientific and technological centre to develop and sustain its own aeronautical activities. With substantial investments from the government and various mechanisms of transfer and creation of technology, the Brazilian Aeronautical Industry has a successful state-owned company (Embraer) with an international reputation and the capability to develop its own projects.
