摘要:

Packaged software evaluation represents a major decision for end-users. It involves a number of quantitative as well as qualitative attributes in choosing among system alternatives. This paper reports the results of an evaluation designed to assess two choice models utilized in a software evaluation and selection case study. As part of an empirical assessment of the software selection process, this evaluation compared the rankings of a short list of commercial software packages. The rankings were prepared by the linear weighted attribute (LWA) choice model and the multi—attribute utility theory (MAUT) choice model. Both of these choice models gave essentially the same ordering of the short list. However, there were noteworthy differences in the statistical significance within the respective rankings of software.
