Abstracts from Literature Synopsis:Planned procedures are often delayed in patients who are normally maintained on Coumadin, resulting in lengthier hospitalizations while the patient is switched to heparin. Wentzien et al studied the effect of partially reversing therapeutic anticoagulation with vitamin K1 and found that a single oral dose of vitamin K1 was safe and effective. The dose of vitamin K1 may be predicted using a regression formula, and this approach may obviate the need for hospitalization or it may reduce the length of stay.
