AbstractMorphological distinctions betweenThamnobryum alopecurumandT. angustifoliumaremaintained when the species are grown under standardized conditions, confirming the validity of the present taxonomic separation of the two species. The record from Madeira is erroneous, soT. angustifoliumretains its status as a British endemic.
