摘要:
A simple weighing experiment was performed by beginning freshman students as a first introduction to measurement. Harking back to the historical antecedents of weighing, coins were weighed using two balances of different precisions. The analysis proceeded to increasing levels of sophistication to elucidate various concepts involving distributions, resolutions, standard deviation, standard deviation of a mean, and confidence in the existence of an observed effect.
