The immense potentialities of communication satellites open a wide field of vision for communication engineers. Communication satellites so far launched have established their usefulness for intercontinental circuits. Performance of such types of satellites—already launched—has been reviewed in brief. The problems facing the engineers in establishing a commercial set-up for communication through satellites have been discussed. A probe has been made in the future when a communication satellite will be able to provide global coverage for voice and television signals in the most convenient manner.
