AbstractOxidation of N‐(γ‐dimethylaminopropyl)‐iminodibenzyl hydrochloride (Tofranil®) with molecular oxygen in the presence of Fe2+salts, ethylenediamine‐tetraacetic acid and ascorbic acid leads to N‐(γ‐dimethylaminopropyl)‐2‐hydroxy‐iminodibenzyl in moderate yield. This product is identical with a metabolite of Tofranil® isol
