SummaryOur case seems to demonstrate that, as Lian thinks, there is a certain type of epilepsy induced by circulatory insufficiency. In our case, epileptic seizures completely disappeared after operation on inferior vena cava and this fact is an indirect proof of their origin.Still we don’t believe that our patient had a latent epileptogenic area, but rather some cortical hyperexcitability previous to the onset of the lit.This hyperexcitability resulted from the chronic cortical ischemia and the epileptic seizure itself would be the nervous component of the ischemic paroxysm due to the transitory aggravation of the circulatory insufficiency.We now believe that this phenomenon has been facilitated in our patient by the existence of diastolic leakage.This is to be compared with the manifestations of functional myocardial ischemia often seen in aortic insufficiency.
