摘要:

The decomposition of electromagnetic fields for a system of elementary classical point charges into velocity fields and acceleration fields is suggested by the appropriate terms in the Lienard–Wiechert formulas. This paper introduces “bound” fields and “radiation” fields which are related butnot identicalto velocity and acceleration fields, respectively. It is shown how this approach can be used in the construction of an energy–momentum tensor that is free of infinite quantities and settles the4/3problem in the Lorentz transformation of momentum.
