The use of electrical plugs and receptacles in a hospital environment introduces a number of problems that are alien to other applications of these devices. Many factors have to be considered in order to select the right plugs and receptacles and make sure they perform reliably in continued use. The information contained in this report is intended to enable the clinical engineer to assure a high degree of reliability for the plugs and receptacles used at his place of employment.
