ABSTRACTThe trilobite fauna from the late Caradoc and Ashgill Series in the Ashgill type area is further described and illustrations are also provided of some identical and closely allied specimens from the Cross Fell Inlier and from Girvan. Nineteen Cautley and Dent forms are referred to nine genera:Staurocephalus, Flexicalymene, Gravicalymene, Calymene(sensu lato) (including material previously referred toDiacalymene),Prionocheilus, Brongniartella, Mucronaspis, DuftoniaandKloucekia.Six of the forms are described as new species and one as a new subspecies; six are identified with existing taxa and five forms are under open nomenclature.
