SummaryOut of ten patients with brain abscess, observed over a period of fifteen months, eight were associa ted withStreptococcus milleri, either in pure culture or as part of a mixed flora with strict anaerobes. Inspite of surgery and chemotherapy, two patients died and one survived with severe sequelae.The taxonomic position, the ecology, the pathogenic spectrum, and the bacteriologic diagnosis ofS. milleriare reviewed.
