Students in introductory physics courses often have easily diagnosed weaknesses in their ability to use basic mathematical tools. Experience with remedial material in the form of linearly programed reviews has shown it to be valuable, both on an individual and a mass basis, in alleviating these weaknesses. The philosophy of construction and use of such materials is discussed, and a sample program presented. Four remedial programs—in geometry, trigonometry, vector addition, and exponents—have been prepared and are available for trial use in limited quantities. Suggestions for additional topics are both made and solicited.
