摘要:
Recognition of the postsplenectomy syndrome has led to increasing discretion in the decision to perform splenectomy. For many indications, alternatives are available. When it is unavoidable, constant surveillance by physician, patient and family can minimize the risk of fulminant infection. Also at risk of sepsis are patients with functional“splenectomy,”e.g., sickle cell disease.
