LetRbe a near-ring and Mn(R) the associated near-ring ofnxnmatrices as defined by Meldrum and van der Walt. IfRiss-primitive, thenMn(R) iss-primitive. On the other hand ifMn(R) iss-primitive, then thes-radicalJs(R) is zero. With suitable chain conditions r is a faithfulMn(R)-group of type-s if and only if isMn(R)-isomorphic toGnforGa faithfulR-group oftype-s.
