摘要:
Systematic study of role conflicts in the modern Japanese family has not received the emphasis it deserves. This suggests that the institution ofie, albeit no longer recognized in the law, was and still ispar excellencesocial. A sociological concept ofieis important in understanding the process whereby ascribed statuses change to achieved statuses. It isinthis process that role conflicts emerge and realistic adjustment is achieved in the modern Japanese family.
