Features of beam stability for the 50 Hz, 800 MeV, ISIS proton synchrotron are described. The issues discussed include the following: longitudinal coasting beam, longitudinal bunched beam, transverse coasting beam, transverse head-tail bunched beam, and the absence of the electron-proton instability. ©1999 American Institute of Physics.
