We formulated aqua Kummelfeld with 1% lincomycin (AKL) and applied it topically to patients with acne vulgaris twice a day for 4 weeks. Enrolled in this study were 26 patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris. An excellent response was seen in three patients, a good response in 17 and a fair response in four, and the condition was unchanged in two. Adverse reactions were observed in four patients who had either dryness or itching. The results suggest that topical treatment with AKL may be beneficial in the treatment of acne vulgaris and now deserves evaluation in a controlled clinical trial.
