A scant 10 years ago, the causes of recurrent attacks of acute pancreatitis in patients with no history of gallstones or heavy alcohol consumption would have remained undiagnosed and untreated. We now know that at least five other conditions should be considered and that most can be treated effectively. The fourth article in our pancreatitis series focuses on this subgroup.
