Cryotherapy using multiple perineal probes combined with urethral preservation and monitoring by linear ultrasound gives local control in up to 90% of patients. The technique is minimally invasive and repeatable. Potential complications are serious. Incontinence varies from less than 3 to 48% but usually resolves within 6 months. Fistulation can be avoided. Impotence occurs in 65-90% of patients.
