AbstractTwo new statements,“The Rights of Parents When a Baby Dies”and“The Rights of the Baby,”are now being circulated among health care professionals by leaders in the perinatal bereavement movement. These statements have significant implications for pastoral care of bereaved parents, the pastoral role in relation to other disciplines, and the pastoral-prophetic ministry to institutions. It is important that chaplains familiarize themselves with the statements, reflect on their meaning for pastoral care and institutional relationships, and respond accordingly.
