AbstractThe problems encountered in the use of one‐fire white enamels are reviewed. The reactions and changes taking place during the firing of an enamel are described in some detail and are illustrated by photomicrographs of a one‐fire white enamel. Photomicrographs are also shown of various white enamels fired directly on steel. Several possible steel and enamel combinations are considered. Data are given regarding the reflectance and chemical resistance of various white enamels fired at 1300° and 1500°F. The importance of the end use of the enameled article is empha
