AbstractThe German science and technology policy advice system is discussed. The critical requirements are reflexivity, knowledge transfer, co-ordination and public participation. Substantial opportunities exist to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the German system within the given socio-structural, socio-cultural, socio-economic, political and institutional boundary conditions.
