摘要:
It was 4 years ago that this author presented a book,Education and Teaching in Analytical Chemistry,1, intended for students and specialists trying to develop an opinion regarding the role of analytical chemistry as a science and of chemical analysis as an “art” in the progress of modern society. The idea of writing this book was conceived during the International Conference of Analytical Chemistry (Lancaster, July 1980), where this author presented a plenary lecture.2At that time the present author was preoccupied with the explosive evolution of analytical methods and, hence, issued a study entitled Moral Ageing of Analytical Methods. Both the book and this study were well received by specialists. Therefore, in 1983, as a guest of the University of Zaragoza, Spain, this author lectured on Analytical Chemistry: Science or Art?3to emphasize its role in the development of modern technologies and contemporary society
