摘要:
SummaryThe introduction of Allen’s correction greatly increases the value of Reddy’s modified method in the clinical appraisal of adrenocortical function.1) The use of the advocated correction considerably improves the stability of the value of the amount of steroid excreted by a given individual. It also decreases the scattering of the values obtained in normal adults. It was further shown that there is a close relationship between diuresis and urinary 17-hydroxycorticosteroids concentration.2) The interest of the determination of these corticoids after adrenocortical stimulation induced by ACTH administration is particularly shown by its comparison with the eosinopenic effect. If however this reaction reaches or exceeds 50 p. cent within 8 hours, it is highly probable that the adrenal cortex will respond to ACTH administration by an increased hormonal output. For the quantitative appraisal of this hypersecretion it is necessary to inject ACTH into the vein. The standard procedure is to give 20–25 international units in a 6–8 hours intravenous drip.
