摘要:
An educational program developed to prepare health professionals in a neonatal intensive care unit to initiate family-focused developmental care (FFDC) is described. The program was designed in response to a desire to better support families with preterm infants and to do so in a cost-effective manner. It served to bridge the gap between a traditional model of care and a family-centered model. Evaluation findings suggest that the program was cost-efficient, prepared nurses to effectively initiate FFDC, and improved maternal self-esteem.
