There are still undeveloped regions in the world which have no honey industry, although they support a rich natural vegetation which could yield good honey crops if colonies were maintained there. Some of these regions have no road access; others present special problems of drought or high temperatures, or of native bees that are difficult to handle, or of parasites or predators. The Philippines constitute one such area, and the present article on the circumstances there may possibly provide clues that could help the development of beekeeping in other parts of Asia.
