The selection problem in a system consisting of a flexible manufacturing cell,Lproduction lines and an assembly machine is discussed. The flexible manufacturing cell feeds the production lines, and the production lines feed the assembly machine. The selection problem is dealt with here by using the theory of optimal stochastic switching with switching costs
