When it is difficult or not possible to solve a problem analytically and not feasible to carry out a designed experiment on the production floor due to the interference it causes in day-to-day operation, simulation provides a viable alternative. This paper discusses the use of simulation as a management tool in decision making, in particular to determine specification limits.A simulation flow chart of an assembly process is presented along with the results of its application to actual operation.
