AbstractIn adult toads the central end of the ninth or tenth dorsal root was disnonnected from the spinal cord and inserted instead into a denervated muscle which has previously been tranplated to the back. In this way a direct connection between peripheral sense organs and muscle fibers has been achieved by a single sensory neurone (‘mono‐neuronal’ connecttion), eliminating the central nervous system as intermediary between receptor and effector o
