AbstractThis paper is a discussion of the various techniques currently available for producing graphics on microcomputers. On the hardware side there are descriptions of various output devices such as monitors, T.V.s and plotters, input devices such as digitizers, and interactive devices such as joysticks and roller-balls. On the software side there are descriptions of the basic building blocks, application software packages and standards. The intention is to give an idea of the different tools and techniques that are available, and to illustrate the things that can now be achieved using low-cost desk-top computers.
