摘要:
Toronto, Canada was the venue for the largest neutron jamboree ever held, with no fewer than 570 registered participants. In terms of “blocks” present, the European community (+Switzerland) had the largest representation at 214, the U.S. at 157, Japan at 81, and Canada at 56. Despite concerns that the ECNS, held one year before in Interlaken, might reduce the attendance, participants turned out in record numbers. The organizers are to be congratulated, not only for an excellently run meeting, but also for their successful fundraising that allowed them to give financial support to 155 young research-ers, and for keeping the registration costs to a low level by today's standards. Indeed, a job well done, and special thanks are due to Thom Mason, the local chairman, for being everywhere at once during the conference!
