Since occupational therapy was virtually synonymous with the term moral treatment in 1840, this book is probably the first book entirely devoted to occupational therapy. Dr. Leuret in the chapter reproduced below tackles the problem of the patient's rejection of prescribed work, a problem which is still with us one hundred years later.
