摘要:
It is shown that a holographic interference pattern may be magnified and observed by means of a microscope working in the direction opposite to that of normal use. That plane in which a hologram would be recorded by a photographic plate is in front of the eyepiece. The observer looks through the microscope at the objective end. The magnification is shown to obey a formula similar to the usual formula for the magnification of a microscope. The two formulae are identical in the paraxial case, and in the non-paraxial case provided a certain condition is satisfied. Photographic recordings of magnified interference patterns, taken some distance behind the microscope objective, are shown.
