The results are presented of an attempt at characterizing, by means of the hydrolysis curve, the DNA in cell nuclei of the archegonial jacket in theGinkgo bilobafemale gametophyte. The hydrolysis curve shows the presence in some of these nuclei of at least two different DNA-complexes with different hydrolytic behaviours. Some differences in the relative Feulgen stainability after various hydrolysis times of nuclei belonging to three different gametophytes are also reported.
