If the BATSE instrument is a few times more sensitive than previously flown detectors, the value of (sin2 b) measured by BATSE may be in agreement with a model in which the gamma‐ray bursts are distributed uniformly in a disk. The value of ⟨V/Vmax⟩ predicted by that model is higher than the one reported by BATSE, but the statistical error is hard to asses when the actual value if different from 0.5. A two dimensional analogue of the ⟨V/Vmax⟩ test would be more useful in testing disk models.
