The last Issues in Neurologic Practice discussed diagnostic evaluation of patients suspected of having herniated lumbar discs. In this section, I have asked 3 neurosurgeons, Drs. Fischer (Boston) and Drs. Porchet and de Tribolet (Lausanne), and a Neurologist, Dr. Kelly (Washington), to share their rules for managing patients with lumbar disc disease who have radicular symptoms or signs.
