Reduction of cost and time can result in eliminating the use of heparin with intermittent therapy. The following study revealed the fact that sodium chloride can be used as a patent vehicle for intermittant therapy only. A study was completed and the “I.V. lock” procedure was successfully established in this institution for the many indications of intermittent therapy.
