Summary:This article provides a history of the methods and results employing tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis. The author's preferred technique is described in detail. The significance of this report is that a method of hindfoot arthrodesis first described decades ago may be more successfully employed today with the use of an intramedullary ankle fusion nail
