摘要:
The ASEAN-Canada Project on Soar Energy in Drying Processes officialy started on 1 Apr 1992 with contracts signed between the National Project Offices (NPOs) from the ASEAN countres and the Canada an Executing Agency The project official terminated on 31 March 1996 Unger the project, 9 implements consisting of 6 solar drying units and three heat pump dryers were designed, constructed and installed in 5 of ASEAN countries, i.e. Indonesia. Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Despite some problems encountered during the period of construction and installation, all the implements have operated successfully and functioned as expected. They serve as demonstration units in each of ASEAN country involved. Through the ASEAN-Canada Project, ASEAN researchers gained know-how on the state-of-the art of the solar and heat pump drying technologies. This know-how was gained through a series of workshops / seminars during the course of the project, and through the hands-on experience in designing, constructing and installing the implements. The presence of the implements have drawn some interests from some institutions and private sectors in some ASEAN countries, while in others solar drying technology is considered as having potential as a viable alternative technology in the future. This paper presents brief description of each implement and summarizes the main achievements of the Project.
