AbstractAn improved thermal homogenization procedure has been developed for fuel regions containing a finite number of thin slab subcells. This procedure applies a“non-cell”correction factor to the usual subcell flux-volume weighted constants, resulting in improved leakages to or from exterior environments adjacent to the homogenized fuel region. The form of the non-cell factor is dictated by a neutron free-flight argument.
