This article reviews four packages for MS-DOS personal computers (Electronic Tables, PCalc, StaTable, and STAT-POWER), producing cumulative probabilities and quantiles for the most common statistical distributions. Some of them provide other results such as mathematical functions, confidence bounds, and power calculations, which will not be reviewed. It was found that each package has its strong and its weak points. It is recommended that each reader should make an individual purchase decision depending on criteria such as task requirements, working situation, and taste.
