“The aurochs(Bos primigenius L)in Sweden” concerns all known subfossil finds of this animal in Sweden with respect to their regional and stratigraphical site and their geological age. About 3/4 of them are found in Scania, the southernmost province of Sweden; the rest comes from the region south of the great lakes of middle Sweden. On the table fig. 13, the finds are ranged as to their geological age. The main bulk belongs to the Ancylus age, about 6 000-7 500 B.C. Supported by his investigations of historical sources, verbal popular traditions, and the ethymology of names of lakes, mountains and villages with the profix ur-(ofswed.ur-oxe) the author supposes thatBos primigeniuslived i Southern Sweden until about 1 300 A.D.
