Three descriptive frameworks drawn from empirical and theoretical study of human change and its facilitation in counseling are presented. The first is a cognitive‐mediational model of therapeutic interaction. The second is a model of client cognitive change during and as a result of counseling. The third is a descriptive synthesis of therapeutic elements that seem to support such client change.
