SUMMARYPeptic ulcers tend to recur; recurrence may be associated with an increased risk of potentially lethal complications, such as haemorrhage or perforation. Therapy aims to keep ulcers in remission. Currently, the optimal maintenance therapy is long‐term, continuous administration of antisecretory drugs.
