AbstractA number of ring substituted alkyl benzenesulphonylcarbamates have been prepared and evaluated as selective herbicides. High activity associated with useful selectivity is obtained when the alkyl group is methyl and the benzene ring carries a 4‐amino or 4‐nitro group. The preferred compound is methyl 4‐aminobenzenesulphonylcarbamate, common name asulam.
