Twenty‐nine Red Kites, that were tagged as nestlings in Wales, bred for the first time at 2–7 years old (mean 3–6). A minimum of 41% of tagged young had entered the breeding population by the 7th year. Individuals moved up to 22 km between birthplace and breeding place and, having bred, most stayed in the same locality from year to year.
