AbstractAlkylation of piroxicam with a homologous series of alkyl iodides gave reversibly formedO‐alkyl products1as well as unexpected, irreversibly formed zwitterionic compounds2, alkylated on the pyridine nitrogen, andO,N‐bis‐alkyl products3.
